About MKUCS

Our Story

In August 2009 NHS Milton Keynes commissioned Milton Keynes Urgent Care Services (MKUCS) to provide a dedicated NHS Urgent Care Service in Milton Keynes.

Since then, local GPs and Milton Keynes Hospital have been working together to build a service that will ensure that those who need it will be able to get immediate treatment for urgent conditions that are not urgent enough to require treatment in the A&E department, but cannot wait until the patient can see their own GP.

This service complements services offered by GPs or the Hospital A&E department. MKUCS is a Community Interest Company specifically formed to provide this service.

Our Services

MKUCS offers assessment and treatment of conditions which you think have an urgent need to be seen and therefore cannot wait until you can access your own GP. If you are uncertain, please call 111 to avoid making an unnecessary journey.

Our service is provided by a Medical Team comprised of healthcare assistants, nurses, nurse prescribers and local GPs. MKUCS offers this service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

MKUCS DRESSING CLINIC INFORMATION

MKUCS provides a weekend service for necessary dressing changes for ambulant patients. Appointments for this clinic are booked through your GP.

From October 2015, families in Milton Keynes can now access the Children’s Primary Care Team. This team of specially trained and experienced children’s nurses work with local GPs to offer appointments for children suffering common illnesses. Appointments are held at Milton Keynes Urgent Care Centre. You can find out more about this team by visiting their web page.
